Meet Emili

A Letter from Emili's Parents

We tried to get a place and operation in the USA with (another foundation) because it was difficult to get it done in Poland, probably because the equipment isn’t good enough. The foundation was doing a lot to help Emili, but unfortunately she didn’t qualify for the operation. We were then put in contact with Doctor Tyrakowski (the Global Spine Outreach spine surgeon in Poland). After a consultation with Dr. Tyrakowski, Emili was qualified to have an operation in Poland through GSO. We were so happy that someone could finally help our daughter. Before the operation, she wasn’t able to sit down straight without any help. She couldn’t dress herself. She needed a lot of help with her daily routine. She went through a lot of rehabilitation and she was wearing a corset (brace), but it wasn’t helping either. After the operation, we were happy to see a huge improvement and that everything went well for her.

After recovery, Emili could see a big difference. She is able to breathe normally and be more independent. The decision to have the operation was really hard, but Dr. Tyrakowski was very helpful and he explained everything to us. We were sure that he would do everything to help our daughter. The entire team that was operating on Emili. Drs. Siemionow and Rinella, were absolutely amazing and they did such a great job. We are very thankful for everything you have done to help Emili and make her dream come true. This means a lot to us as parents too. Now we can be sure that in the future she can be totally independent. Thanks to all of you for your big hearts! We will never forget what you have done for us.
